Carbon Monoxide Monitoring for Indoor Parking Lots and Warehouses

A. Coverage

Provide carbon monoxide sensors for complete coverage of all enclosed parking areas in accordance with;

  1. 15 meter (50 foot) maximum radius from each sensor to edge of coverage area, wall, stair case or obstruction.  Any obstruction within the radius constitutes the end of the coverage area of one sensor.
  2. away from air vents, heaters and overhead doors
  3. mounting height of 1 to 2 meters (4 to 6 feet) from the floor

B. Sensor Requirements;

  1. Carbon monoxide, Electrochemical type, sensors measuring 0 to 250 ppm CO +- 3%
  2. Operating temperature range of -25 C (-13 F) to 50 C (122 F)
  3. 3 year minimum sensor life span (5 year typical)
  4. Factory supplied certificate of calibration
  5. Gas concentration numeric display
  6. LED indicators for three adjustable alarm levels
  7. Adjustable delay-on and delay-off timers for each of the three presets
  8. LED strobe flasher high gas alarm
  9. 85 db audible alarm high alarm
  10. Field calibration controls from front panel with real-time concentration display
  11. Sensor replacement via pre-calibrated plug-in module
  12. Splash proof, impact resistant, flame retardant enclosure
  13. RS485 interface for daisy chain hook up

A. Coverage

Provide carbon monoxide sensors and nitrogen dioxide sensors for complete coverage of all enclosed parking areas in accordance with;

  1.  15 meter (50 foot) maximum radius from each sensor to edge of coverage area, wall, stair case or obstruction.  Any obstruction within the radius constitutes the end of the coverage area of one sensor.

For automobile parking lots with less than ten feet of ceiling height, mount detectors 1 to 2 meters (4 to 6 feet) from the floor.  For maintenance areas loading docks and warehouses here ceiling is greater than 10 feet mount the carbon monoxide detector at 1 to 2 meters (4-6 feet) and the nitrogen dioxide detector at 50% of the ceiling height or not less than the height of the expected diesel powered vehicles.

  2. away from air vents, heaters and overhead doors
  3. mounting height for propane of 30 to 60  CM (1 to 2 feet) from the floor, for methane, natural gas, and hydrogen 30 to 60  CM (1 to 2 feet) ceiling

  1. Catalytic type sensors measuring 0 to 50% Lowest explosive limit (LEL) +- 3%
  2. Operating temperature range of -25 C (-13 F) to 50 C (122 F)
